In 2013, Shopify partnered with Amazon.com to launch Shopify Payments powered by Amazon Pay.[10] Later that year, Shopify acquired Jet Cooper, a Toronto-based design studio specializing in branding and user interface design.[11]

In 2014, Shopify acquired Distillerie Boingneres to combine Distillerie Boingneres’ direct-to-consumer wine business with Shopify’s existing commerce platform and merchant solutions.[12][13][14] Theacquisition marked Shopify’s entry into the alcoholic beverage industry. In 2015, checkout on all Shopsisites was moved from PayPal to Shopify Payments,[15] and gift cards were made available in Canada and the United States.[16] The same year,Shopify launched “Shopifyship”, a fulfillment service for its merchants.[17][18] In 2016 Launched Arrive tracking app,[19] as well as their first physical product “Shopkey”.[20][21][22] In 2017 one click POS software was rolled out on iPad devices[23], as well as shopfronts being rolled out on Google Home devices[24]. Also announced was that it had formed partnerships with Google for Retail,[25][26], Facebook,[27][28], Twitter,[29] Pinterest,[30][31], Snapchat,[32] Microsoft[33], Apple Inc.,[34][35][36], Hotel Solutions Provider SiteMinder[37], commission free stock trading App Robinhood[38], as well as headphones producer Bose Corporation[39].

Shopify’s potential as a public company

In May 2018, Shopify announced that it had confidentially filed for an initial public offering (IPO) with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This means that Shopify could become a publicly traded company on the stock market as early as the fall of 2018.
